Convenience Advertising Joins OMA in Support of Australia's Independent Audience Measurement Framework

MEDIA RELEASE 17 Aug 2026

Convenience Advertising Australia (CAA) has joined the Outdoor Media Association (OMA), reflecting the company's commitment to Australia's independent Out of Home audience measurement framework through participation in MOVE.

The decision follows a detailed review of the principles and methodology underpinning MOVE, Australia's independent audience measurement currency for Out of Home media. For Convenience Advertising, the decision was not simply about joining an industry association. It was about supporting a measurement framework that aligns with values the company has championed throughout its 42-year history: independent measurement, transparent methodology, evidence-based reporting and continuous improvement.

For more than four decades, Convenience Advertising has connected advertisers with Australians in trusted, high-dwell environments. During that time, the company has delivered commercial, government and public health communications programs throughout Australia and across 14 countries, participating in more than 110 independent client-led formal evaluations measuring audience dwell time, message recall, behavioural response and campaign effectiveness.

Chief Executive Officer David Stanley said the company's review concluded that MOVE and Convenience Advertising serve complementary, but distinctly different, purposes.

"MOVE provides Australia's independent audience measurement currency. It gives agencies and advertisers confidence that Out of Home audiences are measured consistently and independently across the industry."

"Our role is different."

"For more than 42 years we have been researching the quality of Attention. Through more than 110 independent client-led formal evaluations we have sought to understand not simply whether people had an opportunity to see advertising, but why they notice it, how long they engage with it, what they remember and what ultimately influences behaviour."

Stanley said this distinction is becoming increasingly important as the media industry evolves.

"Independent audience measurement creates confidence. Attention research creates competitive advantage."

"MOVE answers an important planning question: who had the opportunity to see advertising, and, through its Visibility Adjusted Contacts (VAC) filter, who was also likely to actually see it?"

"Our research asks a different question: what characteristics of an environment create meaningful Attention?"

"Those questions are complementary. Neither replaces the other."

Stanley said this shared commitment to evidence-based measurement made joining OMA a natural decision.

"We were impressed by the integrity of the MOVE methodology and the industry's commitment to maintaining an independent measurement currency. Common standards improve confidence, enable fair comparison across media environments and ultimately strengthen the Out of Home industry."

As onboarding progresses, Convenience Advertising's inventory will be represented within MOVE, providing agencies and advertisers with independently measured audience data that can be compared consistently alongside other Out of Home formats.

Alongside its participation in MOVE, Convenience Advertising will continue investing in its proprietary research programs, including CAQR® and CaptiVision®, together with ongoing behavioural and audience effectiveness research.

These initiatives are designed to extend industry understanding of Attention, engagement, communication effectiveness and the relationship between environment, dwell time and advertising outcomes.

National Manager Growth Nitin Mascarenhas said independent measurement benefits the entire advertising market.

"Advertisers deserve the ability to compare media opportunities using independent and transparent standards. MOVE provides that confidence. It creates a common language for planning and buying Out of Home media while recognising the diversity of environments available to advertisers."

Peter McLean, Head of Data & Analytics, said high-quality measurement enables better decisions throughout the industry.

"Data integrity is fundamental to advertiser confidence. MOVE provides an objective industry benchmark. Our own research seeks to build upon that foundation by exploring the characteristics that influence Attention and campaign effectiveness within place-based environments."

"The combination of trusted independent audience measurement and ongoing Attention research provides marketers with a richer understanding of media performance."

Stanley believes the relationship between independent measurement and Attention research represents the next stage in the evolution of Out of Home media.

"The future of our industry will not be defined by bigger datasets alone. It will be defined by better understanding of human Attention."

"We are proud to support Australia's independent audience measurement framework through the OMA and MOVE while continuing our own contribution to the science of Attention."
